Dear subscribers to DigitalSpace News (welcome new members in 2007),
it's an exciting time here at DigitalSpace, including:

1. DigitalSpace's concept and design simulation for a Human Mission
to a Near Earth Object (NEO, or asteroid), done in support of a NASA
feasibility study, has been all over the news media since the summer
and now a special movie of the design is being featured on Space.com.
See this narrated movie that depicts a scenario for crew making a
"soft docking and tether" on the surface of one of these enigmatic
objects in our solar system:

if it is off the homepage, see:

Watch for this design in a story in the November issue of Popular
Science magazine.

other news coverage at:

2. Years in the making, DigitalSpace's open source 3D platform,
DigitalSpaces (DSS), is going out to the world in 1.0 release (with
documentation, tutorials and a really cool demo space) at the end of
November. Designed and built by our superb crew at DM3D Studios Pty,
in Maffra, Australia, DSS is perhaps the world's leading open source
3D simulation platform with a comprehensive architecture for physics,
plug-ins, sound, GUIs, multi-user, and scripting through Python. In
its beta development phase, DSS has been used to create two dozen
space, industrial simulation and medical applications. We are seeking
research, academic and commercial partners to take DSS out into many
different applications. It is our hope that DSS will become a "Linux"
of high performance real-time 3D simulations and gaming applications.
